Detox Scrub + Bath Recipe
To start, I decided to create a detox scrub. Based on my research, Epsom salts seemed to be a key component of detox baths, so I mixed that with another detox favorite, ginger, to make a dry scrub. #epsomsalt #gingerdetoxginger Detox baths, as an ancient practice, have incorporated ginger due to its notable anti-oxidant properties and its ability to protect against aging. To avoid making a mess, I stood on a large towel while applying the scrub. I scooped some into my hand and started with my feet, working my way upward. However, it’s important to refrain from scrubbing sensitive areas or areas with active acne, as excessive rubbing may worsen breakouts. #beautytips

I found that pulsing the Epsom salt in a food processor made it easier on the skin, but it can still be a bit messy. Take your time and savor the invigorating scent of fresh ginger. I tend to rush and end up with half of the scrub leftover, which serves as a reminder to slow down and enjoy the process. #selfcare

Before beginning the scrub, I started filling the bath with hot water. The combination of heat and ginger helped induce sweating, which is crucial for eliminating toxins from the body. Additionally, sweating opens up pores and promotes muscle relaxation. For an extra detox boost, you can drink ginger tea before bathing. #sweatitout #gingertea

Ginger Detox Bath + Body ScrubLast weekend, on a bit of a whim, I decided to sign up for a 3-day juice cleanse. Before this, the closest I had ever gotten to detoxing was reading GOOP.

Midway through day one I was tired and cranky with a killer headache. (The 7 degree weather and 3 crazy kids who desperately need to go back to school might have contributed.) It was the perfect time to escape for an hour-long detox soak in the tub.

Detox Scrub + Bath Recipe

First, I started with a detox scrub. Everything I read about detox baths included Epsom salts so I combined that with another detox favorite, ginger, to make a dry scrub. Because you can pretty much cure whatever ails you with ginger.

Ginger has notable anti-oxidant properties and has been incorporated in the cosmetic and skin care industry as a result of its use to protect against aging. Ginger has historically been used for hyperpigmentation and evening out skin tone in various cultural practices.

Epsom Salt and Ginger Body Scrub

You’ll want to stand on a large towel to catch the scrub because it gets a little messy. Then scoop some in your hand, and starting with your feet, work upward. Do not scrub sensitive areas or in areas of active acne as there is a frictional component of acne (persistent rubbing and massaging may trigger further acne breakouts).

Pulsing it in the food processor makes the Epsom salt much easier on the skin, but still. Take your time and enjoy the smell of fresh ginger. I tend to rush and have half the scrub left at the end. That’s always a good reminder to relax and go over things again.
