The summer season is notorious for wreaking havoc on our skin. Personally, I have noticed that my skin tends to freak out during this time, particularly when I spend more hours outside. It took me some hard-learned lessons to understand that I need to adjust my skincare routine accordingly. So, during the summer, I adopt a more minimalistic approach, focusing on the essentials – face wash, moisturizer, sunscreen, and soothing products.
I consciously ease up on the use of chemical exfoliators, AHAs, BHAs, and other potent skincare treatments. The combination of excessive sun exposure and aggressive layering of active ingredients proved to be too much for my skin. As a result, my face retaliated by gifting me with a delightful pimple or two. Lesson learned!
I would love to know if you have similar experiences with your skin breaking out more during the summer. It seems like a common issue that many of us face.
Remember, it’s crucial to prioritize sun protection throughout the day. Reapply sunscreen consistently to shield your skin from harmful UV rays. Don’t forget to find products that are calming and soothing to counteract any potential irritation caused by the summer heat.
So, let’s keep it simple and smart this summer, taking care of our skin while still enjoying the sunny weather!

The pimple that recently set up shop on my chin and I would like to know if your skin freaks the eff out when summer weather hits. Mine does, for sure!
I suspect it’s because I purposefully ease up on the chemical exfoliators, etc., when I know I’m going to be spending more time in the sun. I learned the hard way that I can’t aggressively layer acids and antioxidants and all the potent stuff AND be outside all day. It’s just too much.
So, I tend to keep it pretty basic when it comes to skincare during the summer, which means face wash, moisturizer, sunscreen and anything calming and soothing. I think between the combination of letting up on the AHAs, BHAs and skincare treatments, and then applying and reapplying hella sunscreen all day long, my face is like, “Ha ha ha! Here’s a juicy pimple, enjoy!”
How about you? Does your skin break out more in the summer?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
