The Allure perfume is a unique blend that reminds me of a combination of Mitsouko and Shalimar. This fragrance takes me back to the 90s, and not necessarily in a good way. The fruity floral mix of peach, jasmine, and vanilla screams of that decade. It’s a perfume that would have been popular among those in their coming-of-age phase during that time.

Imagine buying your first job kind of perfume, where you want to feel mature and sophisticated, so you opt for a Chanel fragrance. However, deep down, you can’t let go of the nostalgia associated with Vanilla Fields, so you settle for this Chanel fragrance instead.

While I appreciate the sentimentality that often accompanies nostalgia, there comes a point where it becomes overwhelming. The Allure perfume tries to capture that essence, but for me, it does so in a way that feels outdated and takes away from the desired experience.

Allure… like someone tried to combine Mitsouko and Shalimar. This Frankenstein of a perfume is so 90’s it hurts. The fruity floral mix of peach, jasmine and vanilla is definitely for someone coming of age at that time. This is a first job kind of perfume, where you want to be grown up so you buy a Chanel, but you’re not ready to let go of Vanilla Fields so it’s this Chanel you get. Nostalgia is great… until it’s not.
