The fragrance itself takes “heady” to a new level and the lasting power is exceptional. #intensefragrance #longlasting

Although the original L’Interdit is still my favorite, this version has a unique twist with a chocolate note that may appeal to those starting their fragrance journey. #chocolatenote #modernfragrance

The florals in this scent include orange blossom, jasmine, neroli, and tuberose, with a hint of cacao pod for some added complexity. #floralscent #complexfragrance

Base notes include patchouli, ambroxan, vetiver, and tobacco, giving the fragrance a smoky undertone. #basenotes #smokyfragrance

Givenchy L’Interdit Eau Parfum Rouge Ultime Review

The bottle is divine with a deep red that looks like a lacquer and fits so perfectly in the palm of the hand – it’s a  perfect, cooling sensation that’s completely at odds with the fiery fragrance within. To my mind though, the original L’Inderdit hasn’t been bettered and that remains the case. It’s probably slightly ageist of me to say that this version has been infused with a chocolate note that is probably catnip to anyone starting their fragrance journey more recently because almost all modern designer fragrances have it. It’s way too much for me not least because I prefer a cleaner fragrance if there are big notes at play.

Givenchy L’Interdit Eau Parfum Rouge Ultime Review

The florals are still all in situ – orange blossom, jasmine and neroli with a dash of tuberose – the rogue is cacao pod – which seems to bring different aspects to different people. I always turn to Fragrantica or similar to see what others think for more balance and several have suggested a bubblegum note or even a cola note which chimes with my experience although I needed them naming to confirm that ‘youth’ aspect I am picking up. The base notes are patchouli, ambroxan, vetiver and tobacco to run a seam of smoke through the mix.

Givenchy L’Interdit Eau Parfum Rouge Ultime Review

Givenchy L’Interdit Eau Parfum Rouge Ultime is an amber floral designed to be bold – it’s never going to be for the fragrance faint hearted. It’s for you if like a defining, highly charged fragrance that will be noticed, and it’s not for you if you’d rather be quietly appreciated :-).  35ml is £67 HERE.
