#ProductReview: Jo Malone London English Pear & Sweet Pea Cologne
So, I have mixed feelings about the new English Pear & Sweet Pea Cologne. #SweetPea #Fragrance
I absolutely adore sweet peas – they are my favorite flowers. This year, I finally had success growing them after disappointing attempts in the past. I’ve enjoyed sweet peas all summer long, and they’re still going strong, although the stems are shorter now.
You do have to be patient to detect the sweet pea note in this cologne – it’s subtle and takes time to emerge. I expected a stronger presence of sweet pea, but it seems that sweet pea enhances the pear note, which is exceptionally beautiful in this fragrance. #JoMalone #Cologne #Pear
Fun fact about the Jo Malone English Pear fragrance: they achieved the perfect pear scent by boiling pears (as a byproduct) and capturing the steam to extract the natural fragrance. It is estimated that each bottle of this fragrance contains the juice of one whole pear. #Pear #FragranceExtraction
To me, the English Pear & Sweet Pea cologne represents a whimsical summer scent that is perfect for weddings, parties, or simply lounging in a hammock. It has a fresh, light, and mellow quality on a base of white musk. The fragrance is calming, tender, and delicately powdery, leaving a subtle trail on the skin. Personally, I was hoping for a stronger sweet pea presence, but perhaps that will develop over time. The 30ml size is priced at £55. #SummerFragrance #WhiteMusk
I also want to mention the limited edition English Pear & Freesia candle, which would make a lovely gift. It features a pear leaf on the top and has a more rosy scent with a base of patchouli. This variant is stronger and has a more bouquet-like fragrance. The candle is available for £59. #LimitedEditionCandle #EnglishPearFreesia

You do have to search for the sweet pea note – it’s there but you need to wait a while for it to subtly emerge. I expected more volume on that note but that said, sweet pea seems to be the perfect magnifier for pear which in this iteration is more beautiful than I’ve known it.

Small fact about the Jo Malone English Pear fragrance – they turned to the food industry to get the pear fragrance just perfect and did it by boiling pears (as a by product rather than wastefully), capturing the clouds of steam and using that to create the note in a natural extraction process. They estimate that each bottle of fragrance contains one whole pears’ worth of juicy extracts.

To me, the English Pear & Sweet Pea cologne is a whimsical summer note – for a wedding, a party, idling in a hammock – with freshness, lightness and mellowness on a white musk base. It’s calm, tender and gently powdery that leaves a delicate trail on the skin. I think I’m distracted by the fact that I wanted it ALL sweet pea – maybe that will come! 30ml is £55 HERE.

I would also draw your attention to the limited edition English Pear & Freesia candle – never a more giftable thing with a little pear leaf on the top. The freesia variant of English Pear is more rosy with a base of patchouli – it’s the stronger of the two and more ‘bouquet’-ish. You can find the candle HERE for £59.
